Music has been an important part of Niels Vincentz’ life from the earliest memories until today.

Some of his greatest saxophone idols include Charlie Parker, Wayne Shorter, Lester Young, John Coltrane and Steve Lacy. But he also admires the music of Rued Langgaard, Bela Bartok, Aram Khatchaturiam, JS Bach and several others.

The Mystery:

“Music reflects life. Beautiful, ugly clear, muddy, straight, curved, interesting, boring, mundane.

Music follows every step I take. Sometimes far ahead. Sometimes in the background. Always revealing, also when it’s not telling the truth.

Music language is shadow and light. Tales of heavy things, and things so light that nothing can hold it down. And things in between.

You could name the tones “dust of time”. They are also light. Vibrations. Waves of water, energy, air. Building blocks in motion. Soul rays.

Relate to music and you relate to yourself.”
